Global Village is a meaningful short-term international volunteer experience with opportunities around the world. By working closely with Habitat country programs, volunteer groups partner with local communities, building or improving homes as part of Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Upon return, Global Village participants become champions for resilient housing and advocates for Habitat’s work.

Why we build in Moinesti:

The Municipality of Moinesti has hundreds of applications for social housing that indicates the great need in the community but it can only resolve a very small fraction out of them. Because of their low income, our Partner Families don’t have the possibility to access a loan from the bank or to buy a house in order to improve their living conditions.

Latest statistics show that:

- 35.8% of the Romanians are at risk of poverty and social exclusion;

- 45,6% of the Romania population is living in overcrowded dwellings, that is almost half of the population

- housing issues affect 3 out of 10 Romanians (29,1%);

- 24,2% of the Romanians are living in houses with no toilet inside the house;

- 22,8% of the Romanians do not have bathroom/shower inside their dwellings.

In 2026, Habitat Romania aim to build four homes (two duplex houses) for four families from the community.

Habitat for Humanity has been a tremendous connection for me, combining my love for travel, exercise, food & philanthropy. Whether in our own backyard or on the world stage, there is nothing more satisfying in the charity world that seeing the results of your time, money, and effort. These builds are just that. Getting off the typical tourist path to see a part of the world & way of life many of us simply read about or unaware of. With your help, we are changing the course of one family's life trajectory. Their safety, hygiene, kids’ education, dignity and so much are addressed by the Habitat charity. In addition to that feat, we support the local economy, bring aid to those that might never receive any and actively help to shape & unite the globe.

Please feel free to contact me to learn more about this build, hear stories of past ones or joining one in the future. Looking forward to meeting you in Romania in July 2026.
