Together, we build
A safe and affordable place to call home is the foundation for a better life. It strengthens families, creates opportunities, and fuels strong, thriving communities.
By working alongside families to build, repair, and finance homes; advocating for bold, equitable pathways to homeownership; and pioneering innovative approaches to housing affordability, Habitat for Humanity Canada is brining homeownership within reach for more families.
Every partnership has a ripple effect of positive change, resulting in better health, stronger educational outcomes, and more financial security for generations to come.
Our story
Habitat for Humanity is a movement of people in Canada and around the world, working side by side to make homeownership accessible for more families. Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity International has grown to have a presence in more than 70 countries.
Our vision is a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.
In 1985, the first Habitat home was built in Canada in Winkler, Manitoba. Since then, we’ve partnered with close to 5,000 families from coast to coast to coast, helping them achieve the benefits of affordable homeownership. As part of a global federation, we also directly support international housing solutions in countries beyond our borders.
Thanks to our generous corporate and individual donors, thousands of volunteers, and customers at our 100+ Habitat ReStores, we continue to build homes, communities and hope in Canada and around the world.
Join the Movement
There’s so much more to do. Canada is in an affordable housing crisis and too many people across the country and around the world do not have homes that provide them with a solid foundation to build a better future.
That’s why we’re committed to scaling up our impact — building more homes, supporting more families, and working with communities to address housing challenges head-on. We need your help to do it.
