Donation-ready checklist
With 100+ Habitat ReStores across Canada, there’s likely to be a location near you!
Here’s how you can get ReStore ready:
☑ First, check that your item is in good condition and full working order.
Check to make sure it doesn’t have signs of wear or damage like:
- Missing or broken parts
- Deep scratches
- Chips or cracks
- Missing or unframed glass
- Fabric with stains
- Rips or tears
- Strong odours
- Other major damage
If it does, you might be able to recycle it. Contact your municipal recycling program for more information.

Most Habitat Restores will accept: - Furniture, housewares and décor
- Home appliances less than 10 years old
- TVs and electronics less than 5 years old
- Cabinetry
- Kitchen and bath fixtures
- Building materials (full boxes or sections of materials)
- Flooring and tile (full boxes or sections of materials)
- Lighting and lamps
- Doors and windows
! Habitat ReStores will not accept:
- Mattresses
- Rear-projection TVs
- Home appliances 10+ years old
- TVs and electronics 5+ years old
- Building material scraps or partial boxes
- Flooring and tile scraps or partial boxes
! What about clothing?
Some Habitat ReStores accept clothing – but not all.
