Networking

We realize the importance of networking and getting to know your colleagues within the federation. To benefit from our time together, we have curated the following networking activities.

Optional Team Networking Dine-Arounds

Kick off conference on Tuesday evening with your forum group in Windsor's Little Italy.

This is an opportunity to meet new people in similar roles, see old acquaintances and discuss issues you can relate to. More information on dinner locations can be found on the Team Networking Dine-Arounds page.

Bus boarding will begin at 5:45p.m. in the Lobby of Caesars Windsor Hotel and Casino. Buses will be leaving at 6p.m. sharp.

Please remember to register for the dinner of your choice.

Please note: The Team Networking Dine-Arounds are pay on your own, they are not included in any of the registration packages and are an optional activity.

Wednesday Networking Lunch – 10 Things in Common!

We build. We Influence. Together., and what better way to do this than getting to know each other while building new cohesive relationships during Wednesday’s lunch. Tables will be assigned, so make sure to check the Announcements tab on the conference website for the seating chart. (The Announcements tab will become active on May 6.)

Table teams will be tasked with finding 10 things in common, for example, places traveled, beloved movies, etc. Have fun together and start building those new relationships!

Please note we will have a French speaking table available on Wednesday during the lunch hour.

Thursday Networking Lunch – Assigned Seating

Let’s get to know even more people! Tables will once again be assigned, so make sure to check the Announcements tab on the conference website for the seating chart. (The Announcements tab will become active on May 6.)

Although we don’t have a formal icebreaker planned, we encourage everyone to get to know your new table mates. This is your opportunity to gain fresh ideas and develop lasting relationships.

Please note we will have a French speaking table available on Thursday during the lunch hour.

Let’s Get Social – Tips for Networking

“Networking is not collecting contacts. Networking is about planting relationships.” – anonymous

One of the greatest takeaways from any conference is the new relationships that are made through networking.

Sometimes networking can be hard, so here are a few tips and strategies that can be a gamechanger:

  • Be ready with some conversation starters. For example: What affiliate are you from? What sessions and or speakers are you looking forward to?
  • Come with your own agenda of what you want to take away. For example: Do you have an issue you could use help with?
  • Use your already established connections to introduce you to new ones.
  • Don’t sit with people you know. Move to new tables after lunch each day.
  • Stay on-site. Those after hour conversations can be very beneficial.
  • Pack your business cards and remember to give them out.
  • Look at nametags. Identify the folks you want to touch base with and be sure to greet them by name.

Remember the 3 Bs… Be yourself. Be confident. Be curious. You have so much to offer, and don’t forget we can all learn something new too.
