UPDATE ON HABITAT ON THE HILL
As you may have heard, the federal government is tabling its budget on November 4, 2025 – the same day we are all in Ottawa to meet with Members of Parliament.
The good news: Budget Day can be exciting and interesting in Ottawa.
The less good news: Members of Parliament may not be available for meetings.
What that means for our Day on the Hill: In-person time to hear from a few speakers, work through potential federal government funding opportunities, take any meetings with Members of Parliament that do come up, and talk about how to build on all your amazing engagement and outreach work in 2025.
What that means for the Leadership Summit: Working sessions will start on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 4, and end a bit earlier than planned on Wednesday, November 5.
Please check out the agenda for more details and remember to update your accommodation reservations and travel plans as necessary.
Following our time together, we will work with First Lake Solutions to secure post-budget meetings in your communities with MPs, ideally during the week of November 10 for those we were able to see in Ottawa. If you are not available in your community the week of November 10, please let Alana Lavoie know.

Join us in Ottawa for Habitat on the Hill and the National Leadership Summit | November 3–5, 2025
Habitat Canada is pleased to invite EDs and CEOs from across the country to Ottawa for a combined Habitat on the Hill and National Leadership Summit.
We’ll kick things off on the afternoon of Monday, November 3 at 2 p.m. ET with a briefing for Habitat on the Hill. This mandatory session will help you better understand the political moment and provide a chance to discuss messaging and meeting tactics. We are pleased to have First Lake Solutions with us for the session.
That evening, Caivan will host an exclusive event at its Advanced Building Innovation Company (ABIC) facility. ABIC leverages cutting-edge software engineering, robotics, and automation to construct five to seven homes per day at its 150,000 sq. ft. campus. Following the tour, guests are invited to a dinner reception at Harmons Restaurant.
On Tuesday, November 4, we’ll meet with Members of Parliament and select officials to advance our shared housing priorities. The day will conclude with a joint reception co-hosted with the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association. The reception is open to MPs and political staff, providing an opportunity to talk about housing and homeownership more informally.
Finally, on Wednesday, November 5, we’ll gather for the National Leadership Summit — a day dedicated to strategic dialogue among federation leaders. Together, we’ll explore the challenges and opportunities ahead and shape Habitat in Canada’s path forward as we approach 2026.
For more details, please refer to the event agenda.
