Great leaders intentionally search for new ideas, and they know they must keep growing in order to be effective in an ever-changing world. Based on the book, Don’t Blame the Lettuce: Insights to Help You Grow as a Leader and Nurture Your Workplace Culture, this workshop explores a variety of specialized leadership topics that will help you meet challenges and respond to opportunities in new and different ways.
Participants will be encouraged to explore ideas about leadership in ways that will strengthen their leadership practices and help them nurture a healthy workplace culture.
Stories are the magic ingredient to all communications! We all tell stories to captivate our audiences. At this workshop we will discuss:
- How to harness storytelling to inspire action
- How to deal with a communication crisis
- Tips and hacks on proactive communication
- How to capture hearts and minds when speaking to the media and others
Learn from former award-winning journalist and professional storyteller Melissa Durrell.
Trauma is prevalent in our world and has an impact on many of the people we interact with, including those who engage with our organizations. Compassionate and trauma-informed care is essential to providing effective support and building sustainable services. Based on the book A Little Book About Trauma-Informed Workplaces, this workshop explores five key principles to integrate a trauma-informed approach throughout your organization. By embracing these principles, participants can better contribute to the positive transformation of individuals and relationships affected by trauma. Becoming trauma-informed creates a sustainable foundation in any setting to promote strength, engagement, and healing.
As more affiliates embark on government relations, it’s important to be aware of the rules and regulations that govern this space. This workshop will serve as a foundation to good government relations, providing attendees with the CRA and lobbying framework and share examples from other organizations of good and risky communications. The session will highlight how we can use these mechanisms of transparency and our non-partisan position to strengthen our voice/brand, rather than seeing them as a restraint.
Thursday

Designed for all conference attendees, this workshop will explore the possibilities within ReStore to build experiences that connect our target audiences with our goal of building strength, stability, and independence through affordable homeownership.
Be inspired by what's possible, amplify our story, and build impact together.

The Affiliate – Homeowner Relationship is a complicated one and requires careful stewardship over the long-term, as it is arguably our #1 source of potential conflict and risk as a federation.
As the external pressures on our program mount – i.e., land availability & cost, construction costs, rising FMVs and interest rates – it is imperative that we continue to evaluate our assumptions about these key relationships and seek new ways to deliver on our mission, in sustainable ways. This workshop will feature a panel of affiliate leaders.
We want to build more to serve more, but today’s construction environment has never been more challenging. What will tomorrow’s build look like?
At this interactive session, you will hear from the head of EllisDon’s affordable housing development division and from affiliate colleagues. You will have a chance to ask questions and share your experiences, as we work together to chart a path to the future.
Join us at the Resource Development workshop, where we'll explore the strategies and tools needed to secure major gifts. Learn from a panel of colleagues from across the Federation, who will share their success stories, showcasing how collaboration led to major gifts.
In this workshop you'll learn how to leverage your team's collective strengths and resources to identify and secure major gifts. You'll walk away with valuable insights and practical tools to increase your fundraising and make a lasting impact for your organization. Don't miss this opportunity to learn and share with your colleagues and be inspired to take your fundraising efforts to the next level.
This session is recommended for individuals who are involved in fundraising for their affiliate.
