Habitat for Humanity Canada
Global Village Trip Coordinator

Position Type: Full Time

Application Deadline: May 4, 2007

Job Region: Waterloo, ON

Years Experience: 2+

Date Ad Posted: April 20, 2007

Overview

The GV Trip Coordinator works behind the scenes to coordinate short-term home building experiences which raise awareness and funds for Habitat’s mission, while building relationships and houses. This is accomplished by working in partnership with Global Village staff, volunteer team leaders, Habitat affiliates and National Offices around the world.

The successful applicant for this position will have exceptional organizational skills, a passion for and experience in international development, and a love for working behind the scenes to make amazing things happen.

The Coordinator must be able to work effectively as part of a team and be able to function with minimal supervision. Since the majority of this role involves working at a distance with Team Leaders and Hosting affiliates the successful applicant must be able to communicate clearly through email and by phone with people from different backgrounds and cultures.

The Coordinator needs to understand and remain in touch with the programs in the field, and therefore the person in this position would be required to lead one team each year to the area that they are responsible for coordinating, and would attend conferences and Team Leader trainings as necessary.

This position will work mainly with Central and South American countries and therefore experience in Latin America and a working knowledge of Spanish is a great asset.

The Coordinator position is full-time, based in Habitat for Humanity Canada’s National Office in Waterloo, Ontario, and has a starting salary of approximately $39,000/year plus benefits.
