The Home Depot Canada Foundation: Committed to Sustainable Homes and Communities
In 2008, The Home Depot Canada established The Home Depot Canada Foundation, which is committed to improving the overall sustainability of our communities through support for housing projects that are healthy to live in and affordable to own. As part of this commitment, and in addition to their ongoing support of Habitat, they created a unique granting program in 2009: The Home Depot Canada Foundation Sustainable Housing Grant Program. Further to this, The Home Depot provided an additional donation of $280,000 to our National Sustainable Building Fund, making their total cash contribution over $930,000! Combined with over $3 million in product donations for builds across the country, The Home Depot has contributed an astounding total of approximately $5 million to the cause this year alone, with a focus on sustainability.

Encouraging Greener Homes and Transforming Lives
By supporting affordable housing and removing families from poverty, The Home Depot Canada is helping Canadian families who often have to make a choice between life's necessities, such as housing and food. By supporting energy-efficient homes, The Home Depot is further helping families through utility bill savings that reduce homeowner costs by up to $500 annually, which families can spend on food, health care and education. Through the new granting program, local HFH affiliates are eligible to receive a grant of funds and gift cards from their local Home Depot store to be used in their "green" building projects, and in 2009, The Home Depot has already distributed funds to 24 HFH affiliates, ultimately impacting over 135 homes and partner families.

Team Depot Volunteer Spirit Alive and Well This Season!
The Home Depot provides much more than monetary support to these projects! Team Depot, The Home Depot's volunteer force of associates, has put in numerous volunteer hours from coast to coast, rolling up their sleeves to swing a hammer to help build homes and hope this year. The combined volunteer, monetary and product support from The Home Depot Canada and its Foundation demonstrates the integrated approach of this strong partnership and the significant impact it has on the work of Habitat for Humanity.
