Summertime brings us the opportunity to engage with the Habitat mission by rolling up our sleeves and getting out on a build site.  It is also a great time to encourage others to join the cause and commit to spreading the word to friends and family about the need for affordable housing. 

This issue of Inside Habitat looks at the ways you can get involved this summer including volunteering on a build in your local community or taking a Global Village trip to work side by side with volunteers and families in need from around the world. We also highlight a few corporate partners that are becoming involved in unique and inspirational ways.

Delta Hotels and Resorts, our national charitable partner, is touring the country this summer to demonstrate their commitment to building stronger communities through their Community Cruiser Campaign. From Victoria, B.C. to St. John’s, N.L., six employees will represent the campaign and travel to 44 Delta locations across Canada to raise funds for Habitat and encourage Canadians to give back to their local communities.

A trip to Zambia in southern Africa changed the lives of this Global Village Canada team. Aside from learning how to build homes out of anthills, these volunteers learned an important similarity of one small village a world away: the hope of having a safe, decent home in which to live and thrive.
