This award celebrates work that has made a profound and lasting impact on the public realm, recognizing Habitat for its activities that renew, revitalize and restore our cities.

In May of this year, the Habitat for Humanity Brockville ReStore was devastated by a fire in which inventory, records, and equipment were lost. As a generous addition to their ongoing support, our friends at The Home Depot were there to support the cleanup and to secure the funding needed to continue building for the family whose home was dependent on the revenues of the ReStore.

Habitat for Humanity is building energy efficient homes that are better for the environment and reduce the cost of homeownership for our Partner Families. Collette in Winnipeg asserts: "It is much easier to save money in my Habitat house." Collette was able to use the money she saved on her heating and lighting bill to buy her kids their first new bedroom furniture, by saving more than half her usual heating bill.
