Habitat for Humanity’s Most Northerly Remote Build in History
The first Habitat home in Iqaluit, Nunavut has provided valuable awareness of the desperate need for housing solutions throughout Nunavut, as well as its “hidden homeless”.  The Habitat Partner Family’s move into a new home will open up another Public Housing unit for a family on the growing wait-list – currently at over 10% of the Nunavut population.

Devoting His Life to Helping Others

Because of his belief that “every man, woman and child deserves a safe, affordable home”, Jim Wicks retired after 32 years of teaching in 2001 to put more time into volunteering with Habitat PEI, and has been advocating for affordable housing and the elimination of poverty housing for over ten years.
