Message to Election Candidates
We sent a communiqué to all candidates in the 2008 Federal Election to coincide with 2008 World Habitat Day. In this communiqué, we noted that access to adequate housing is a basic human right, and invited the candidates to join Habitat for Humanity in making affordable housing a key issue in the final days of this election campaign and, more importantly, in future policies of the next government.
An Open Letter to the Future Prime Minister
We also wrote an open letter to the "Future Prime Minister of Canada" with a call to action to present a clear and comprehensive housing strategy that will drive new investment and new energy into affordable housing initiatives, such as those offered by Habitat for Humanity.
How You Can Help
You can support Habitat for Humanity and give a voice to the voiceless by letting it be known that adequate housing should be made a priority everywhere – in your community, in your town, in your country, in our world. Please remember to ask your local politicians and political candidates this question: "What are you doing to make the dream of homeownership more attainable for low income families in your community and across Canada?"
Thank you for lending your voice to this very important issue. |
