Established in 1988, Habitat for Humanity Toronto is a nonprofit, non-denominational Christian housing organization. We welcome all people without discrimination to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable homes in partnership with low-income families. One hundred percent of all administrative and fundraising costs are paid for by the operation of three ReStores. Habitat ReStores sell quality new and gently-used donated building materials.

Over the past 20 years, Habitat for Humanity Toronto has built homes for more than 100 Toronto families living in need. Internationally, Habitat for Humanity has built more than 350,000 homes in over 100 countries at a rate of 1 home every 12 minutes.

This position reports directly to Director of Marketing & Communications

Responsibilities:

  • Under the leadership of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Faith and Community Ambassador, will:
    • Assist in the development and execute plans to:
    • Raise awareness of Habitat for Humanity Toronto in the faith community.
    • Engage the faith community in Habitat Toronto's mission to eradicate poverty housing in The Greater Toronto Area.
    • Involve community service groups, and other non-profit organizations in Habitat's mission.
    • Act as organizational spokesperson and promote Habitat's profile to faith and community groups through speaking engagements and onsite tours.
    • Assist in the development and execute plans to involve a diversity of faiths in Habitat's mission.
    • Prepare proposals where and when necessary to faith and community groups.
    • Maintain and expand Habitat Toronto's database of faith and community groups.
    • Undertake research as needed.
    • Plan, execute, and report on annual faith-related events.
    • Be responsible for faith-related components at all Habitat Toronto events.
    • Coordinate faith related mailings and production of faith related communications pieces (ie. bi-annual foundations newsletter)
    • Ensure that faith and community groups who donate or engage with the organization are properly acknowledged in a timely fashion and according to Habitat's recognition policies (drafting and sending letters, signage, ordering plaques, etc).
    • Act as staff liaison on the Faith Relations Volunteer Council and source new members as required.

Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of, and respect for, diverse religions
    • Exceptional public speaking skills
    • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Event planning and project management experience beneficial
    • Fundraising experience an asset.
    • Standard computer skills, including Microsoft Office products, Microsoft
Word, and Excel
    • Prior experience in the non-profit sector beneficial
    • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends as required
  • Raiser's Edge experience beneficial
  • College Diploma/University Degree or equivalent
