“Hi, my name is Desiree Kirby. We received our house three years ago. At the time of the build, I was a single mom with three small children. I did not have a drivers license and I had one low paying job after another. Since receiving our house I am now married. I now have my drivers license and I am employed by the Catholic School Board as a nutrition worker and teacher’s associate.
I am so grateful for our home. So much has happened in our lives since the day we found out we were accepted to receive a house. I cannot even imagine where we would be now if it were not for Habitat’s helping hand. I have gained the confidence to go out into the world and get what I really wanted. I know now, if you work hard enough, you can accomplish anything.
This whole experience helped me see that we are special and deserving people and that there are many caring, wonderful people out ready to help somebody in need. On behalf of my family, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and thank you every day in our prayers. God Bless.
