Habitat for Humanity Chile's Role
Habitat for Humanity Chile has provided more than 3,500 families with adequate housing since 1998 and has extensive training in disaster response. Habitat Chile’s team is currently evaluating the damage to homes in the most affected areas of Chile. We are happy to report that all Habitat-built homes in the Metropolitan Santiago and Valparaíso regions appear to have withstood the earthquake.
Habitat Chile’s initial focus will be on the city of Talca in Maule - one of the most affected zones - to evaluate the damage and establish intervention priorities. In the capital city of Santiago many building have suffered superficial damage, but few have suffered serious structural damage.
